“Natural Capital” growing as emerging investment product connected to the economic value of our ecosystems
21 lutego 2024Toronto, ON – Global commercial real estate advisor, Avison Young, today releases the fourth story in its 2024 Drivers of Change series, with a focus on investment products and policy levers that are increasingly placing a value on nature; influencing land use and the capital model for sustainable construction materials and real estate development.
The increasing appreciation of natural capital has led to the creation of comprehensive risk management strategies and holistic accounting standards to improve investment decisions and is supported by international frameworks that promote transparency, such as the Taskforce on Nature Related Financial Disclosures (TNFD).
Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG)—creating more nature from real estate development instead of less—is becoming a global value driver and is now mandatory for real estate and infrastructure projects in England.
With an estimated 55% of the world’s GDP dependent on nature, we explore additional examples of initiatives around the world seeking to integrate natural capital markets for both financial returns and sustainable project outcomes.
